We are currently looking for new choir members in all voice parts: soprano, alto, tenor and bass. We are a friendly choir, based in the community, and have delivered successful concerts since 1994.
We perform mainly at venues in the London's East End, but also give concerts at Southwark Cathedral and at St Paul’s Church, Covent Garden. Since 1992 We have raised substantial funds for a number of charities including The Lin Berwick Trust, CRISIS and Help for Heroes.
If you would like to know more why not join us at our regular Monday evening rehearsals? Rehearsals run from at 7:45pm to 9:30pm at Christ Church, Isle of Dogs, Manchester Road, E14 3BN (nearest station is Island Gardens, on the DLR).
To come along to a Monday evening rehearsal, please contact membership@ldsingers.org
If you can read music, that would be helpful, but not entirely essential. You will learn to read music as you become more familiar with music scores during our rehearsals.
We do not hold an audition to join the choir. You need to attend 4 to 6 rehearsals as a probation period. You may have a possible audition if thought necessary by the Musical Director before accepting an offer to join the choir.
The fees are: £120 per year (September to August the following year). A concessionary rate of £60 per year is available to those on low incomes.
There are 3 to 4 concerts per year and other smaller events.
These are all day rehearsals, with breaks, running from 11am – 5pm, scheduled on a Saturday spent preparing for one of LDS’s main performances, usually 3 weeks before a concert. Attendance on a Choir Day will be essential.
We work hard to strike a good balance between 'serious' and 'fun' and allow each individual to take what they want from singing in a choir but if we just don't sound right for you, then try BBC Sing - find a choir, and we wish you luck on finding the best possible choir for you.
